The cottage was originally built in 1914 as the study for Professor Ernest De'Selincourt (the eminent Worsworth scholar) and later converted to provide comfortable studio style accommodation for two people.

The cottage has an oak floored sitting room with a king bedstead. The bed is very comfortable, having a orthopaedic mattress.
There is a cosy sitting area in the bay window and additional easy chairs. There is an open fire (fuel provided) plus electric storage heating, TV and DVD. Along one wall is a beautiful mahogany fitted bookcase and drawer unit. French windows lead out to a porch sitting area and private garden. There is a shower room and small kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave

The garden offers peace and seclusion, and is a suntrap in the evenings.There is a private off-road parking area.The cottage is available for full week bookings only during peak season, and additionally for short breaks off-peak, which can be 3-4 days at midweek or 2-3 days weekends. One well behaved pet is welcome!
Electricity, fuel for the fire and linen (but not towels) are included in the rental.

Travel from Ambleside and Rydal along the A591 to the end of Rydal Water. Just past the White Moss House hotel you will find a National Trust (quarry) car park and after this take the road to the right up onto White Moss Common. Just after the brow of the hill you will find the drive to Ladywood (and the lodge) to the right. From the north travel past Grasmere village and the Lake on the A591 and take the first road left (just before the National Trust quarry car park on your left. Then follow the same directions as above. By bus travel on the 555 or 599 buses to WhiteMoss common and ask to be put off at the Quarry carpark. It is a short walk up the hill to Ladywood.
