Within easy reach of bustling Bowness village and the tranquil shores of Lake Windermere, this fantastic Lake District holiday home provides a versatile base for your holiday - whether you take to the lake, walk the fells or soak up village life and family attractions in Bowness village.

Bowness village is located on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, England's largest lake. The village high street leads down to Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go, and Windermere Lake Cruises depart to Ambleside and Lakeside. You'll see elegant yachts racing from the Royal Windermere Yacht Club, and stroll along the lake shore to admire the fabulous scenery around the lake. If golf is your thing, don't miss the scenic course at Windermere Golf Club - just outside the village.

For evening entertainment, Bowness is the liveliest destination in the Lake District. Couples and friendly groups will find many choices for a memorable meal out; from contemporary tapas to stylish dining at the Postilion Restuarant. Don't forget to sample some real Lakeland ale in one of the cosy traditional pubs in Bowness.

If you're travelling with family, there are many family attractions in Bowness. The World of Beatrix Potter attraction is on the high street, and the author's home (Hill Top in Near Sawrey) can be visited by taking the car-ferry across Lake Windermere towards Hawkshead village.

Please exit the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to the Lake District. You will pass by Kendal and need to follow the signs for Windermere/Ambleside. After around 10 miles you will reach Windermere village, take the first left turning off the A591 just after The Windermere Hotel and you will pass the Tourist Information Centre on your left. Continue through Windermere Village for a further mile and a half into Bowness, down the hill and proceed straight over the mini roundabout passing Tesco Express on your right, taking the next left turn onto Kendal Road, opposite a Church. Continue along this road for about half a mile and you will pass the entrance road called Windy Hall Road on your left. Slow down here and as you reach a few yards further on you will see a turning on your right to a narrow lane signed 'except access road', and straight after this turning, at the lamp post on your right turn right onto a private drive signed Old Belfield. Drive to the bottom of the drive and bear right then immediately up to your left, where you will find the iron gates to number 2, Old Belfield on your left.
