5 Riverside Cottages,
Skelwith Bridge,
LA22 9NJ

Close to the banks of the River Brathay in the breathtaking Langdale Valley, this traditional Lakeland cottage, with a rather more contemporary interior, has an enchanting outlook towards the ancient river bridge. River Bank Cottage presents a perfect 'getaway' opportunity at any time of year; cosy up by the wood-burning stove in winter or dine al-fresco in the private garden in summer. The interior is just modern enough to feel special, without losing the character of the property. Your local community is Skelwith Bridge, a brilliantly located village at the entrance to the Langdale Valley. You'll have easy access to the honeypot villages of Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston and Hawkshead. A much-envied bolt-hole!

Accommodation in detail
Enter to a useful boot room, then the crisp kitchen with the full range of modern appliances. Through to the spacious living/dining room with wood-burning stove, bold red leather sofas and substantial dining table. Upstairs to king-size double bedroom with river outlook and fitted wardrobes. House bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. Upstairs again to the twin bedroom, with sailing ship models to fascinate the kids! Outside, the rear garden is furnished and a delight for al-fresco dining, there is also a front garden with lovely stone bench from which to watch the river flowing by.

Away from the hustle and bustle of tourist traps, Skelwith Bridge is a great location for a Lake District cottage holiday. Between vibrant Ambleside village, Lake Windermere and the breathtaking Langdale Valley, guests here are free to enjoy all walks of Lake District life.

Some of the most famous Lake District walks begin on your doorstep; including challenging routes in the Langdale Pikes, Loughrigg and the tarn, or peaceful strolls on the shores of nearby Elterwater. If you'd prefer a leisurely holiday, spend your days strolling gently in the Langdale Valley and sampling the excellent country pubs in the area. Find classy shopping in Ambleside, and enjoy an elegant lake cruise on Lake Windermere, all within very easy reach.

Your location just off the A593 makes exploring the wider reaches of the National Park a breeze. For example; follow the road back to Ambleside and the shores of Lake Windermere, then north to Rydal Water and Grasmere, or follow the A593 south to picturesque Coniston.

Please exit the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to the Lake District. You will pass by Kendal and need to follow the signs for Windermere/Ambleside. After around 10 miles you will reach Windermere village, continue past Windermere Village following the main road through to Ambleside, following the one-way system, turning left onto Wansfell Road. Keep in the left hand lane bearing left out of the one-way system. After a few hundred yards turn right signposted Langdale, Coniston A593 and drive over a hump back bridge, continuing through Clappersgate and after 2 miles you will reach Skelwith Bridge. Pass The Skelwith Bridge Hotel on your right and turn immediately right before the hump back bridge with signposts to Chester's and Touchstone. Turn immediately right again and drive through stone gate posts onto a gravelled drive. Bear left after passing the row of cottages and park directly to the side of Riverbank Cottage itself.
