A most attractive detached cottage in a picturesque location overlooking the valley at Skelwith Bridge with origins dating back to 1806, and perfectly placed for access to all the walks in Great Langdale - one of the most spectacular areas of the Lake District. There are walks from the door to Park Fell, to Neaum Crag, Loughrigg Fell and Loughrigg Tarn or along the river bank to Elterwater - maybe for lunch at The Britannia Inn.

The Skelwith Bridge Hotel, with its excellent restaurant and 'The Talbot' for bar meals, is but a three minute stroll from the cottage. Likewise the well-known Chesters By The River tea room, where you can eat whilst sitting by the River Brathay. Ambleside offers excellent shopping and there is also a well-stocked grocery store at Chapel Stile.

Bus stops are two minutes walk down the lane where you can choose to take the Langdale bus or the bus to Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick, Coniston etc. via Ambleside.

Accommodation: Entrance porch into the hallway with downstairs cloakroom (wc, basin and washer/dryer). Boiler room with hooks for outdoor gear. The large sitting room with bay window (wood burning stove, TV, freeview, Netflix, BT vision, DVD, video, CD/radio and free broadband wi-fi) leads through to the pretty dining kitchen, which is fitted in dark pine with some painted finishes.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double (5' bed, TV/DVD) and one twin - both with good views over the valley. A family bathroom is reached down a few steps and has bath with shower over, basin and wc.

The cottage has a lovely holiday feel with attractive colour schemes, comfortable furnishings and fitted carpets throughout. There are views from all windows.

Outside: Good parking for two/three cars in the enclosed garden. There are benches and a table and chairs to the south facing front of the cottage for relaxing whilst enjoying the extensive views across the valley and down the River Brathay. The main garden area extends to a third of an acre and has paths through mature trees and rhododendrons leading up steps to a large secluded lawn area, which is ideal for games. There is a table with chairs and another bench on the lawn. There is a large decking area from which to admire the views including a 'peak' at Wetherlam to the west. The garden also has a number of 'novelty' features to be 'discovered' which makes this cottage a haven for children (and young at heart adults) to explore. Shop at Chapel Stile 2 miles. Pub 3 minutes walk. Bus stop 2 mins walk down the lane.
